Aquascape Designs/NurseryPro
Master ProPond Dealer for the Pacific Northwest
Pamela and Neal Lucht started their business in 1990 as Northwest Transplants, a company specializing in the production of vegetable, ornamental, ornamental and seed crop seedlings for commercial transplanting. In 1995 we formed Pacific Water Gardens as a new division to begin diversifying our nursery to include ornamental markets. We have turned our passion for water gardening and horticulture into becoming one of the area's largest wholesale producers of water garden plants.
Neal has been a pond builder for over 15 years and was first introduced to Aquascape Designs in February 1999. Neal's philosophy of pond construction was similar to Greg Wittstock's (CEO of Aquascape Designs) and he was very excited to begin working with the Aquascape Designs system. We became a volume dealer in May 1999, and began our quest to change the way the Pacific Northwest builds ponds. Our own construction team focuses on larger lakes and ponds, and provides support to other contractors. We feel that our success in pond construction helps add to our credibility when called upon for technical support from other contractors.
Educational Efforts Win Converts
In our efforts to change the way the Pacific Northwest builds ponds, we provide educational opportunities that include informational seminars about water gardening, and Build A Pond Days. we offer these to our wholesale clients and have a lot of fun sharing our knowledge about the Aquascape system with their customers.
In addition to educating the public, we also offer similar plant and installation seminars to landscape companies. At each Build-A-Pond Day we demonstrate to contractors how to build and plant the pond so that they may achieve the biological balance that is important for a healthy pond. We assisted Aquascape Designs with the advanced Build A Pond Day at our nursery. We had a wonderful time and now have a beautiful addition to our display ponds. Kurt Samis, of Pondsaway, who attended the advanced class, says, "The next time Neal and Pam host an event you will want to make plans to go. The advanced Build-A-Pond was very well organized. The pond had two Grande BIOFALLS being fed by four 9500 gph pumps with 3" flexible PVC pipe, two waterfalls, one falling into a trout pond, and the other going into a Koi pond. The crane operator was constantly placing large boulders all day. They also fed us twice including salmon for dinner."And On Site Technical Support Keeps 'Em
In our efforts to build customer loyalty, we offer our contractors on-site technical support for their more challenging jobs. In addition, we are always ready to help our customers with trade show set-ups and sales. We have three designers on staff that are always ready to review our customer's pond designs and bids prior to their visit with the client.
We hosted our first annual Parade of Ponds event in August of 2002. The Parade of Ponds is a self-guided tour of Aquascape water gardens which helps raise money for Habitat for Humanity. We have successfully held our Parade of Ponds each year since. We have scheduled 2005's Parade of Ponds for the weekend of August 6 & 7, 2005.
Both our pond supply dealership, and our production nursery are growing. Pacific Water Gardens has opened water garden distribution centers in Molalla, Oregon; Auburn, Washington; Meridian, Idaho and Bakersfield, California. Our plan is to ship "pond ready" plants throughout the northern United States. In the future, we see Pacific Water Gardens as one of the nation's largest shippers of pond-ready plants.Better than the Pond Guy?
We have been told that we have completed the most spectacular, advanced Build A Pond Day in the history of Aquascape Designs, and that we now have better waterfalls than the Pond Guy! With our nine display ponds, ranging from our deluxe swimming lake to small, backyard pond, we can help landscapers visualize how to use Aquascape products, and landscape with the plants we sell.
We feel our employees make the difference in our success. They are a diverse group that loves the water garden industry. Their hobbies include: seas kayaking, model airplanes, western dancing, snow skiing, basket collecting, Tai Chi, big game fishing, surfing and various horseback riding events. Our daughter even has a horse named "Splash"! Their various life-experiences help color and enrich the quality of our customer service.
